Our Story

Hi, we're Ellie and Morgan! & bub on the way later 2020!

We are not sleep experts, we are just people that sleep every night. However, living in an increasingly stressful world, compounded with daily doses of screens, caffeine, and long work hours, we found was taking a huge tole on our ability to relax and to sleep well. Naturally, we love sleep, so we decided to do something about it.

Morgan, in particular, was suffering from insomnia for years, laying awake at night while his mind was racing. During the warmer months, his body temperature would soar at night, causing him restless nights of tossing and turning and kicking his blanket off.

During these hot summer months Morgan craved the comforting weight of a duvet to calm his mind, but without the warmth. Morgan talked to everyone and tried their sleep tips, products, and remedies, but nothing made a significant difference. He did learn, though, that lots of people were experiencing the same issues that he was.

Then Morgan heard of weighted blankets, which were widely used in the medical field for their effectiveness in treating symptoms of anxiety, overstimulation in children with autism, and other stressful conditions. He ordered one online and was very excited by its potential, the pressure soothed him to sleep and he started to wake up much less throughout the night. However, all the available weighted blankets were made of synthetic materials, causing them to still retain body heat. These synthetic fabrics and plastic packaging commonly used were not taking advantage of the amazing innovative materials and sustainable processes recently available for textiles.

Building on the solid basic principles of weighted blankets, Ellie & Morgan designed one that they loved. They embraced a holistic approach to wellness by using quality, natural materials and creating maximum comfort with minimal footprint.

Groundd's unique weighted blanket truly works to help us sleep better and stay grounded, and we are hope it can help others.

Sleep tight.
